QURANIC VERSES OF IMAMATE
As the existence of qualifications which are necessary for an Imam or Caliph can only truly be known to Allah, it is only Allah who can appoint an Imam or Caliph. The following verses in the Quran prove that Prophets and Imams are only appointed by Allah, there is no doubt about this.
32:23-24. We did indeed aforetime give the Book to Moses: be not then in doubt of its reaching (thee): and We made it a guide to the Children of Israel. And We appointed, from among them, leaders, giving guidance under Our command, so long as they persevered with patience and continued to have faith in Our Signs.

((Allah)) said: “Granted is thy prayer, O Moses!”
2:30. And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, “Indeed, I will make upon the earth a successive authority.” They said, “Will You place upon it one who causes corruption therein and sheds blood, while we declare Your praise and sanctify You?” Allah said, “Indeed, I know that which you do not know.”

And We bestowed on him Isaac and, as an additional gift, (a grandson), Jacob, and We made righteous men of every one (of them). And We made them leaders, guiding (men) by Our Command, and We sent them inspiration to do good deeds, to establish regular prayers, and to practice regular charity; and they constantly served Us (and Us only).
10:35 Say, “Are there of your ‘partners’ any who guides to the truth?” Say, ” Allah guides to the truth. So is He who guides to the truth more worthy to be followed or he who guides not unless he is guided? Then what is with you – how do you judge?”
7:181 Of those We have created are people who direct (others) with truth. And dispense justice therewith.
38:26. O David! We did indeed make thee an Imam on earth: so judge thou between men in truth (and justice): Nor follow thou the lusts (of thy heart), for they will mislead thee from the Path of Allah. for those who wander astray from the Path of Allah, is a Penalty Grievous, for that they forget the Day of Account.
17:71. One day We shall call together all human beings with their (respective) Imams: those who are given their record in their right hand will read it (with pleasure), and they will not be dealt with unjustly in the least.

4:59. O ye who believe! Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger, and those charged with authority among you. If ye differ in anything among yourselves, refer it to Allah and His Messenger, if ye do believe in Allah and the Last Day: That is best, and most suitable for final determination.
76:24. Therefore be patient with constancy to the Command of thy Lord, and obey not the sinner or the ingrate among them.

This is a mutawatir hadith meaning it has been narrated by so many companions that it is undeniable) Prophet was nervous to make announcement because many people disliked Ali (since he had killed many of the enemies before they converted to Islam), but Allah told him I will “protect you.”
5:55 Only God is your Wali; and His Apostles and those who believe, those who keep up regular prayers and pay the poor while they bow. Abu Dharr el -Ghifari (R) says: “One day I was praying in the mosque with the Messenger of God. Just then, a man came into the mosque and asked for some charity. No one gave him anything. Thereupon he lifted his gaze toward the sky, and said: ‘O God! be Thou a Witness that I sought charity in Thy Own House, and no one gave me anything.’ Thereupon, Ali ibn Abi Talib (who was also praying) beckoned to him with his finger, on which he was wearing a ring. The man came and removed the ring from his finger.” Just then Gabriel came and presented this verse to the Apostle of God in recognition of Ali’s charity.
5:3 This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion. Religon of Islam “perfected” with establishment of Imamate.
